EUROHORCS wants to contribute to the building of the European Research Area (ERA) and to reinforce research cooperation in Europe. This manifests in the initiatives that EUROHORCs has launched.
In 2004, EUROHORCs initiated the EURYI Award scheme, supporting outstanding young researchers from all over the world, to work in a European environment for the benefit of the development of European science and the building up of the next generation of leading European researchers. The fourth and final EURYI Award was announced in 2007.
Also, EUROHORCs is working towards a grant union and on the opening up of national programmes. For example, the “Money Follows Researcher” scheme was introduced, which enables researchers to transfer their national grants when they obtain positions abroad.
