Europe has entered the competition to hire the best young scientists in the world. The European Young Investigator awards EURYI , offered by the research organisations of 15 European countries to 25 young and outstanding scientists from any country in the world, allow to create their own team in Europe, and this in any domain of knowledge.
The EUROHORCS, wishing to contribute to the building of the European Research Area, created the EURYI Awards. The aim of EURYI Awards is to enable and encourage outstanding young researchers from all over the world, to work in a European environment for the benefit of the development of European science and the building up of the next generation of leading European researchers.
The main selection criteria for an EURYI Award is scientific quality, originality and potential.
The EURYI Awards shall foster innovative research, novel scientific problems and/or novel methodologies.
Applicants should have an excellent track record with the potential to become world class leaders in their
respective field of research.
15 countries participate in EURYI: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland, and the United Kingdom.
Participants next to the above mentioned are: Austria (FWF), Belgium (FNRS, FWO), Denmark (Danish Councils for Independent Research), Estonia (Estonian Science Foundation),Finland (Academy of Finland), France (CNRS INSERM), Germany (DFG), Hungary (OTKA), Iceland (Rannis), Italy (CNR, IFN), Netherlands (NWO), Norway (Research Council of Norway), Portugal (FCT), Spain (CSIC), Sweden (Swedish Research Council), Switzerland (SNF) and the UK (BBSRC, NERC, MRC, ESRC, PPARC).
